Our Story
Owners Taylor and Chloe are a married couple from the Pacific Northwest who have bonded over their mutual love of coffee and passion for hospitality.
Taylor started in the pastry world at Culinary Institute of America in 2013 and after graduating, went on to work at Restaurant Daniel in NYC. Taylor and Chloe decided to move back to Washington, where Taylor opened Common Crumb Bakery, took the position as Pastry Chef at neighborhood staple Luna Restaurant and was eventually promoted to director of operations. While preparing to open, Taylor worked for long time friend and James Beard Award winning pastry chef Ghaya Oliveria at her new pastry shop in LIC, Ghaya.
Chloe began her career as a barista and server in NYC. For the last 10 years, she has worked most service positions including host, server, barista, dishwasher, floor manager, and bartender. Chloe has worked as a top level barista in Washington in establishments such as Evans Brothers for years, and she now bartends at one of NYC’s most esteemed bars, Please Don’t Tell.
As service industry “lifers,” the next step was to open their own business, and that is how Passionfruit Coffee was born. Their aim is to be industry leaders for ethical business practices, while fitting seamlessly into the neighborhood, and creating a space where people feel welcome and at ease. Together, Chloe and Taylor have 20+ years of hospitality experience covering every aspect of the industry, and intend to use that to create the perfect setting for our neighbors to enjoy life’s simple pleasures!
Our Coffee
We are proudly serving coffee from our friends at DOMA Coffee Roasting Company out of Post Falls, ID.
We have been enjoying DOMA’s coffee for years and we are very excited to be able to share it!
“We are proud of our packaging, displays and promotional work, but it’s what happens ‘off label’ that sets DOMA apart. As third-generation family-owned business people, we value inclusive decision making in our day-to-day operations with staff. We maintain open communication with employees and actively empower them to contribute ideas and provide feedback. We work hard to better our communities — both local and global — through philanthropy and outreach. Most importantly, we strive to improve our knowledge of the industry and business practices.”
